Stamped Concrete Color

Stamped concrete uses a combination of base color and accent (release) color to create dimension. These colors are typically added through integral coloring, color hardeners, and antique release agents.

1. Earth Tones (Most Popular)

These mimic natural stone, slate, or brick.

  • Sandstone

  • Buff

  • Taupe

  • Tan

  • Cocoa

  • Desert Beige

  • Terracotta

Ideal for patios, driveways, and pool decks with a natural aesthetic.

2. Gray Tones

Used to replicate slate, flagstone, or modern finishes.

  • Light Gray

  • Stone Gray

  • Charcoal

  • Graphite

  • Smoke

  • Blue-Gray

Great for contemporary homes and urban commercial spaces.

3. Reds and Browns

Simulate clay brick, terracotta tiles, or rustic stones.

  • Brick Red

  • Terra Cotta

  • Burnt Sienna

  • Mahogany

  • Chocolate

  • Rust Brown

Often used in walkways and garden paths.

4. Multi-Tone Blends

Advanced techniques combine multiple colors to create realistic stone or weathered wood effects. Popular blends:

  • Buff + Walnut Release

  • Gray + Charcoal Release

  • Tan + Brick Red Release

  • Ash White + Sandstone Accents

Color Aplication Methods

1. Integral Color (Mixed into Concrete)

  • Uniform color throughout the slab

  • UV stable and long-lasting

  • Typically soft, pastel tones

2. Color Hardener (Broadcast on Surface)

  • Denser surface, more vibrant color

  • Improves abrasion resistance

  • Requires skilled application

3. Antique Release Agent

  • Adds contrast and shadow in stamp crevices

  • Comes as a powder or liquid

  • Washes off excess color after stamping

4. Concrete Stains & Dyes (Post-stamping)

  • Adds mottled, variegated appearance

  • Can be layered for depth

  • Useful for color correction or enhancement

Maintenance Tips for Stamped Concrete Colors

  • Seal regularly (every 2–3 years) to prevent fading and staining.

  • Use UV-resistant sealers for outdoor applications.

  • Clean with pH-neutral detergents to maintain color clarity.

  • Avoid deicing salts, which can affect both color and texture.

Pro Tip

Always test a mock-up sample before full application. Final color depends on many variables:

  • Concrete mix

  • Weather conditions

  • Application technique

  • Sealers used
